LBC: 1 item, 5 outfits

Hello everyone!

This week's LBC theme is: "Take 1 Staple Item and Make 5 Different Outfits".
I believe red is one of the most versatile non-neutral colors out there - it's also my favorite color! Because of this, I chose a relatively neutral Metamorphose JSK in red to create these 5 outfits:

♦ Classical outfit
Classic
By picking elegant items in cream/ivory, a few golden accents and matching shoes I achieved this Classical Lolita outfit. To keep it interesting, the tights and bag both have prints on them.

♦ Gothic outfit
Gothic
Using only black complements, this Gothic coord was created. Black is a great opportunity to use textures: lace, faux-fur, velvet, printed tights and leather work on the shoes.

♦ Sweet outfit
Sweet
Red and sax isn't a combination I see very often in Lolita, so I decided to try it out. I used white sparingly. The berry print headbow brings the whole thing together.


♦ Sailor outfit
Sailor
Only the main piece and the hair accessories are from Lolita brands. I wanted to do something that had red, black and white. These 3 colors go really well together!

♦ Old-school inspired outfit
Old-school Red
Wearing every piece in such a strong color isn't very common at all, but I thought it might look cute - specially with a bit of an "Old-school" touch. I tried to keep it neutral, not necessarily part of any sub-style.

2º Bazar J-Fashion

Olá!

Domingo passado (15/09) aconteceu o 2º Bazar J-Fashion em São Paulo. Eu fui pra vender coisinhas handmade e "desapegos" e tirei algumas fotos pra mostrar como foi!
Por causa do layout as fotos não cabem direito, mas é só clicar que elas aparecem maiores!

Uma panorâmica do local do evento vista do ponto onde eu fiquei.

Eu tinha combinado de ir com umas amigas, mas com a temporada de entregas de trabalhos da faculdade acabou que só eu fui. Não conhecia ninguém no bazar então (pra variar) estava um pouco nervosa.

Os anfitriões eram super simpáticos e tinha bastante gente amigável, então foi bem legal! Infelizmente não encontrei muitas das coisas que precisava, maaas fiquei de encomendar um dos lindos acessórios da loja Devas.

Como era um evento J-Fashion em geral, achei que ia ter um pouco de todos os estilos, mas as lolitas dominaram a cena! E, mais uma vez, me surpreendi com a quantidade de Sweet Lolitas: é realmente o sub-estilo mais popular aqui no Brasil.

Apesar disso, vi também gyaru, fairy-kei, mori, boystyles, pastel goth e até moda mais casual (?). Era uma mistura muito divertida, com cada coord mais lindo que o outro!

Na entrada eles tinham dado uma pulseirinha rosa com um número, que serviria para um sorteio no final do evento. Vários dos vendendores ofereceram brindes legais. Não ganhei nada, mas foi um momento muito divertido.

Não consegui uma foto muito boa da roupa que usei, a melhorzinha foi essa depois de chegar em casa.

LBC: Design a Complete Coordinate for Only $100

Hello!
For Lolita Blog Carnival's first anniversary post, the challenge is to design a complete coordinate for under $100. It was a bit hard, and I kind of cheated a little (tee-hee!) but so much fun to do!
I decided not to fiddle with Taobao so that this would be easy for a beginner lolita to buy.

Lolita coord under $100

Outfit rundown:

Wine hat from Fun+Friend for U$10.46
Floral JSK from Bodyline for ¥2,499
Brown cardigan from Bodyline for ¥1,499
Knee socks from Fun+Friend for U$5.28
Petticoat from MeLikesTea for R$40 (the one pictured is only an example)
Shoes from Bodyline for ¥2,499

Total cost: U$99.15

Pretty good, huh? Unfortunately, this is only possible with a combination of the infamous "Bodyline yen trick" and magical free shipping. And I really hope that dress has pockets, because I couldn't fit in a bag.

Tutorial: Corsage

Roses and flowers are one of the best ways to dress up your hair. This tutorial is for an easy, quick and neat rose hair corsage.

♦ Olá!
Rosas e flores são um dos melhores jeitos de enfeitar os cabelos. Esse tutorial é para um corsage para o cabelo, fácil, rápido e bonito!

You'll need:
Você vai precisar de:

1 artificial rose | 1 rosa artificial
15cm of lace | 15cm de renda
20cm of wide grosgrain or velvet ribbon | 20cm de fita de gorgurão ou de veludo larga
10cm of delicade chain | 10cm de corrente delicada
1 tassel (pictured) | 1 borla (foto)
1 alligator clip or pin back | 1 presilha jacaré ou broche

Mine is a classic black-and-white, but you can choose your own colors!
O meu é um clássico branco e preto, mas você pode escolher suas cores!



Start with your ribbon and fold it in thirds as seen on the picture. Use either a no-fray product or nail polish on the cut edges.
Comece pela fita e dobre-a em terços, assim como na figura. Use algum produto para não desfiar ou esmalte de unhas nas pontas cortadas.

Insert your folded ribbon through the loop on top of the tassel. Make sure the tassel is centered and adjust the ribbon so that a bow is formed.
Passe a fita dobrada por dentro do fiozinho que fica em cima da borla. Certifique-se de que a borla está centralizada e ajeite a fita para que forme um lacinho.

Sew a running stitch on the plain edge of the lace and pull the thread. You will notice that as you gather more tightly, the lace naturally turns into a circle - and that is what we want!
Faça um alinhavado no lado liso da renda e puxe o fio. Você vai notar que quanto mais franzir, mais a renda fica num formato redondo - e é isso que queremos!

Sew the lace centered on top of the bow you made before. You can either sew or hot-glue the rose on top of everything. For the chain, carefully open the links on each side and attach it to the lace. Sew or hot-glue the alligator clip and/or pin on the back and voilà!
Costure a renda centralizada em cima do laço que fez antes. Você pode costurar ou colar com cola quente a rosa em cima de tudo isso. Para colocar a corrente, abra com cuidado os elos em ambas as pontas e prenda-os na renda. Costure ou cole a presilha jacaré ou broche e voilà!

Trends Lolita! [PT]

Olá!
Recentemente comecei a notar um aumento em algumas trends Lolita que não eram tão populares antes, mas que agora eu vejo em todo lugar!

♦ Metálicos

Sapatos metalizados apareceram pelo menos 2 anos atrás. Geralmente eu os vejo em coords Sweet Lolita, combinados com prints com tema de céu ou noite, muitas vezes com presilhas de estrela da Chocomint como acessório.

Eu acho que também ficariam muito bons com estampas que tem algum tipo de brilho ou glitter, e também como acentos em roupas que ficariam simples demais sem um pouco de brilho.

Dourado é definitivamente a cor metálica mais popular entre lolitas, mas prateado e cobre também poderiam ser usados. Existem outros acessórios metalizados como bolsas, cintos, ou até mesmo roupas. Jóias e bijuterias não contam!

Ainda assim, acho que items metálicos podem ser um pouco difíceis de usar num coord: se muito pouco, pode ficar desbalanceado; se muito, pode virar um exagero de brilho!


♦ Coroas de Flores

O tradicional corsage cresceu e agora está fazendo a cabeça de todo mundo! Coroas de flores se tornaram populares em outras modas alternativas e com Lolita não foi diferente.

Sinceramente, elas ficam bem com quase tudo, só precisa mudar o tamanho e cor das flores para combinar com cada roupa e estilo.

Flores pequenas são mais discretas e elegantes; flores grandes tendem a um efeito mais fofo e dramático. De qualquer forma, elas dão uma sensação bucólica e de contos-de-fadas ao look.

Outro motivo para as coroas de flores serem tão populares é que você pode facilmente fazer a sua ou, se não for muito chegada em artesanatos, pode comprar lindos designs em sites como o Etsy.


♦ Transparências
Quando eu comecei a me interessar por Lolita, tecidos translúcidos eram meio tabu. Roupas transparentes? Que indecência! Nessa época marcas como Moi-même-Moitié já usavam chiffon, mas sempre com um forro opaco por baixo.

De uns anos pra cá, no entanto, chiffon e tecidos similares começaram a aparecer em toda a sua glória transparente. Os itens mais comuns são blusas, mas também existem vestidos e saias que se aproveitam da transparência com estampas, babados e texturas diferentes.

Para mim, esses tecidos diáfanos sempre dão um toque clássico, delicado e elegante às roupas, deixando-as um pouco mais maduras - o que não impede essa moda de aparecer em Sweet Lolita.

Um lembrete amigável: usar um camisole por baixo da sua blusa transparente é sempre uma boa idéia, a não ser que você vá usar algo sobre a blusa!

Lolita Trends! [EN]

Recently I started noticing a rise in some trends that weren't this popular before, but now I'm seeing everywhere in Lolita!

♦ Metallic

Metallic shoes have been around for at least 2 years. I usually see them in Sweet Lolita coords, paired with sky and night-themed prints, often with Chocomint star-clips as accessories.

I think they would also look good with prints that have a bit of a sparkle or glitter on them and also as accent points in otherwise plain outfits.

Golden is definitely the most popular metallic shade among lolitas, but silver and copper shades could also be worn. There are other metallic accessories such as bags, belts, or even clothes. Jewelry doesn't count!

That said, metallic items can be a bit hard to coordinate: too little and it might look unbalanced; too much and it might become sparkle overload!





♦ Flower Crowns

The traditional hair corsage grew bigger and now it's around everyone's heads! Flower crowns have been popular in other alternative fashions and with Lolita it is no different.

Honestly, they look good with pretty much everything, all you have to do is change the size and color of the flowers to suit each coordinate.

Smaller flowers are more understated and elegant; big flowers tend to give a cuter or more dramatic effect. Either way, they tend to give the coord a bucolic and fairy-like feeling.

Another reason for flower crowns to be so popular is that you can make easily your own or, if you're not very crafty, buy beautiful designs on websites like Etsy.


♦ Transparency
When I first got into Lolita, sheer fabrics were sort of taboo. Transparent clothes? How indecent! Back then brands like Moi-même-Moitié did work with chiffon, but always with an opaque lining underneath.

A few years ago, however, chiffon and similar fabrics started showing up in their see-through glory. The most common items are blouses, but there are also dresses and skirts that make use of the transparency with prints, ruffles and different textures.

To me, these diaphanous fabrics always lend a classy, soft and elegant quality to the outfits, making them a bit more mature - which doesn't stop this trend to show up in Sweet Lolita.

A friendly reminder: wearing a camisole underneath your transparent blouse is always a good idea, unless you're layering something over the blouse!
